Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying, “I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.” Indeed, often what is missing in our compassion for another is a lack of understanding of his/her point of view and motivations. In the film, the leaders sometimes misunderstand and are confused or irritated by their followers, in part due to misidentifying their motivations. In this discussion, we will evaluate how individual motivation was represented in the film. Please respond to the following, applying your understanding of motivation from the Module Notes and reading: What motivated each of the three main characters, Saito, Nicholson, and Shears.
